We don’t know each other, so I’m risking a bit of TMI (too much information!) here. I apologize in advance! I’ve struggled with a mild case of IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) for most of my life. My gut is probably the only thing delicate about me! A few years ago I learned about Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis…I stopped whining about my “grumpy tummy”.
Terry Pennybaker, a friend of a close friend, came within a breath of losing her son Mark to Ulcerative Colitis. She shared her story over lunch and I knew I had to help. Her story has a happy ending….her son was able to return to his life’s work as a stuntman, and she actively works to raise awareness about this potentially, life-threatening condition. Not long after this conversation, I spoke to my aunt and discovered that my oldest cousin has lived with Crohn’s disease most of his life. Today, he is a thriving artist and entrepreneur. No one talks about either of these conditions but there are plenty of C & C patients living normal, active lives!!!
